CIPS Level 3 by Distance Learning
Our CIPS Level 3 distance learning course leads to the CIPS Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Procurement and Supply Operations. It's ideal if you're starting out in procurement, or want a recognised qualification for the work you already do.
You can start at any time and study around your job, with all your learning resources in our Google Classroom and one-to-one support from your Training Manager. When you've finished, Level 3 leads straight on to the CIPS Level 4 Diploma, the next step towards MCIPS Chartered status.
Our distance learning approach gives you the freedom to study how and when you want, using a blend of online and offline learning materials. You’ll also have access to remote tutor support where required, to help you feel confident and prepared for your assessments.

How the course works
You work through a clear learning programme in our Google Classroom, with activities linked to the CIPS learning outcomes and designed to help you apply what you learn at work. You set the pace, so you can fit your studies around your job, and your Training Manager is on hand whenever you need help.

Once you've started, send any syllabus or learning questions to your Training Manager, who will arrange any extra tutor support you need.
Syllabus (CIPS Level 3 modules)
You study four core modules and one elective:
- Procurement and Supply Environments (L3M1, core)
- Ethical Procurement and Supply (L3M2, core)
- Contract Administration (L3M3, core)
- Team Dynamics and Change (L3M4, core)
- Socially Responsible Procurement (L3M5, elective) or Socially Responsible Warehousing and Distribution (L3M6, elective)
Assessments
You sit five computer-based multiple choice exams, one for each module you study. Each exam lasts two hours.
Exam booking
As a distance learner, you book your own exams through your MyCIPS portal, and you'll need CIPS membership to do this. CIPS exam series run in March, May, July, September (online only) and November. Booking usually opens six to eight weeks before the exam week, and CIPS will email you when it does. Your Training Manager can help you choose the right exam dates.
What comes next: CIPS Level 4
Once you've passed Level 3, you can move on to the CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply, the most popular route towards MCIPS Chartered status.
