CIPS Level 4 in Nottingham
Study the CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply in the classroom in Nottingham, at Leonardo's Hotel, just a 2-minute walk from Nottingham station. It's the most popular starting point for a career in procurement and the first step towards MCIPS Chartered status, and many of our learners go on to study Level 5 and Level 6 with us.
The course runs over 14 months, with 15 tutor-led study days. Before each CIPS exam series you have three study days: two covering the learning outcomes and a third for revision and exam technique. Small, discussion-based classes mean you learn from other procurement professionals across the East Midlands as well as your tutor.

Your Nottingham study centre is Leonardo's Hotel (formerly Jurys Inn), Station Street, Nottingham, NG2 3BJ, about a 2-minute walk from Nottingham railway station. The venue offers free Wi-Fi and complimentary tea and coffee. Study days start at 09:30 and finish around 15:30.
Your tutor
Mike Donnelly FCIPS is a former Chief Procurement Officer at Shell who has also held executive roles at Arla. He has led teams of more than 480 people across 35 countries and managed annual spend of $5.4bn. Mike is also a CIPS Direct Associate, so he brings real-world procurement leadership and a clear understanding of what CIPS examiners look for.
Syllabus (CIPS Level 4 modules)
The Diploma has eight compulsory modules, worth 60 credits in total:
- Scope and Influence of Procurement and Supply (L4M1)
- Defining Business Need (L4M2)
- Commercial Contracting (L4M3)
- Ethical and Responsible Sourcing (L4M4)
- Commercial Negotiation (L4M5)
- Supplier Relationships (L4M6)
- Whole Life Asset Management (L4M7)
- Procurement and Supply in Practice (L4M8)
Assessments
Six modules are assessed by 90-minute multiple choice exams, with a pass mark of 70%. L4M1 and L4M8 are assessed by three-hour written exams, with a pass mark of 50%.
